Mineral Blush and more...
In this section, we discuss mineral blush, gel blush, choosing blush colors for your complexion, how to find your natural cheek color, blush brush secrets, broken capillaries, customizing your own blush color, and we share a Cheek Blush Chart.
Mineral Blush
Mineral blush is beautiful, sheer, and gives the cheeks with a "natural" glow. A natural brush is a must for proper application.
For sun-kissed cheeks, apply mineral powder blush only to the apples of the cheeks with a light touch.
To slim a round face, apply a thin line of mineral powder blush vertically from the top of the cheek bone under the eye's pupil to the hollows of the cheeks.
For more noticable cheek bones, apply mineral blush to the cheek bones beginning under the pupil of the eye, and then carry the mineral cheek color out to just below the temple.
Gel Blush
Gel blush provides a more natural flush of color than what you find with most dry powder blush. They are sheer, lightweight, easy to remove, long lasting, and blend beautifully with the skin.
One drawback with gel blush is they may stain the fingers. Use a applicator instead of the fingers.

Sun-Kissed Cheeks without the Sun or Self-Tanners
For sun-kissed cheeks without the sun, choose a delicate coral or light pink blush for a fresh glow that brightens the face. These blush colors work well on fair to medium skin tones.
-
Load your cheek brush;
-
With a flick of a finger on your brush handle, remove excess blush powder;
-
Next, stipple (bounce) the color over the apple of your cheeks and feather the edges;
-
With a sweeping motion, bring the color up to the cheek bone and carry it out just below the temple.
Don't over-apply blush. You want a "natural" flush of color.
Choosing blush colors for your complexion
Q. How do I choose a cheek color for my complexion?
A. Knowing your Natural flush of color is your first step. From there, try using our Cheek Blush Guide. You should now be more comfortable playing with cheek colors.
How to find your Natural Cheek Color
-
Sitting in a chair, bend over and put your head down for 30 seconds (for some it may take longer). Caution - be sure to sit in a chair prior to bending over - otherwise, you may get dizzy and fall - beauty does have its risks!
-
Upon rising, your cheeks will reveal their natural flush of color.
Pinched cheeks can lead to broken capillaries
Don't pinch the cheeks to bring in temporary color. You'll risk breaking tiny capillaries under the skin. Once they break, they can take a very long time to disappear or worse, never go away.
If you do have broken capillaries (they look like tiny red lines under the skin), cover them with concealer, and then apply foundation after the concealer has had a chance to dry. When broken capillaries are concealed, the skin looks younger.
Customize your blush color
If you have a few colors of blush in your makeup bag, try blending them together to create a new beautiful color. Mix them in a separate container so that when you apply the color to your cheeks the color will be even. Don't mix them on the skin....unless you are really good, otherwise your cheeks will be two colors!

Blush Brush Secret
We prefer a soft, medium sized, dome shaped natural bristle brush.
Avoid large and fluffy brushes and small and stiff brushes; you won't have the same control as what you will with a medium sized brush.
