Easy Clothing Tricks to Make You Look Thinner

Here are eight easy clothing tricks to make you look thinner if you're feeling a little plumper in your clothes than you would like.  These tricks are straightforward and yield great results.

Colors and Prints

  1. To look thinner, wear clothing in matching colors. Dark colors are better than light for this illusion.
  2. Choose clothing with slenderizing prints.  For example - refer to the above picture; you see a pattern of red against black.  The red at first attracts attention, but it is the black pattern that makes the model look slimmer than normal.
  3. Avoid wearing two different colors such as a blue blouse and red pants. Two very different colors cut a body in half and will emphasize the waistline.
  4. Avoid horizontal stripes.  They will make you look wider.  Wear vertical stripes instead.  Eyes follow patterns, and if the pattern is horizontal, the eyes will see width.

Undergarments

  1. Wear minimizing undergarments, which are sometimes referred to as shapewear, that are intended to smooth out the body's bulges. Not only will you look slimmer, but clothing will drape over your body instead of creeping into the body’s folds.
  2. Avoid under-garments that are too small. Women are notorious for buying panties and bras that are too small. Forget about the size you have always worn; instead, shift your thinking to wearing a size (whatever it is) that will flatter your body. Any clothing that is too tight bulges fat, and that fat has to go somewhere. In panties and bras, it bulges over the all the edges and looks ugly.
  3. If you are full busted, it is possible that your larger bust-line is creating the illusion that your overall body is larger than it actually is.  Minimizer bras address this issue by compressing the breast tissue (not painful or uncomfortable) slightly, thus making a woman look smaller overall.

Outerwear

  1. Avoid wearing pants and tops that are too tight, unless you have smooth curves.  Tight pants and tops may make a person feel as if they are compressing the extra pounds, but if they don't fit your body extremely well, they'll show the world what's really underneath.
