Lip Care: Protecting and caring for your lips
The thinnest skin of your entire body is the skin covering your lips. The skin is so thin, that the underlying blood vessels contribute to their rosey color.
To protect and care for your lips...
-
Protect them from burning and from sun damage with sunscreen designed for the lips.
-
Speed the skin's renewal process using a gentle lip exfoliator or lip mask two or three times weekly.
-
Minimize the use of lip liners; they draw moisture from the skin.
-
Always wear lip balm, lipstick or lip gloss to keep lips moist.
Stop lipstick from getting on the teeth
After applying lipstick, stop lipstick from getting on your teeth by following these simple steps.
-
Wrap a finger in at tissue;
-
Insert wrapped finger in the mouth;
-
Close lips around the tissue;
-
Pull wrapped finger out from between the lips.
The lipstick that would have gotten onto your teeth is now on the tissue!
Testing lipstick safely
The most hygienic and safe way to test lipstick is to test it on the palm side of the finger. The palm side of the finger closely resembles the color and texture of your lips. After testing, wash your hands or use a hand sanitizer.
Stop lipstick from bleeding into the lines around the lips
To keep your lipstick from bleeding into the lines around the lips, line the lips with lip liner that closely matches the color of your lipstick. |
