Makeup Colors for Women with

Brown Hair and Gray Eyes

Woman with brown hair and gray eyes

Choosing makeup colors for women with brown hair and gray eyes was a joy for us.  Having a combination of brown hair with gray eyes opens up a world of makeup colors, especially if you love colors found in nature.  Cream colors  mimic a multitude of spring flowers. Colors of gray, light browns, plums, and violets imitate colors found in old growth trees; and then there are the colors of earth herself - black, earthy brown and blue.   Here are some makeup color suggestions for all the lucky women of the world who are blessed with brown hair and gray eyes.

Before you begin
Before applying any makeup, cleanse and moisturize your face. Then, to the eye area, apply eye primer over the eyelid and up to the brow area. Don’t forget to apply eye primer under the lower eyelashes too for longer lasting eye makeup that resists smudging.

Step #1 - Below the brow
  • Highlight color choices:  Light beige, cream, or light pink
  • Area:  From the eyelash line to the brow.
  • Purpose:  This will brighten the eye area and provide a base from which to work.

Step #2 - Eye Crease

  • Color choices: Grays, light browns, plums, violets.
  • Area:  Sweep color along the crease of the eyes.
  • Procedure: Using an eye crease brush, load the brush with a favored medium-tone eyeshadow; wipe any excess powder from the brush with a tissue to soften the color before application; and then apply your color to the crease of the eyes.
  • Finish with a slight upward stroke at the end, not downward; this will give a lift to the eyes.

Step #3 - Eye Lid

  • Color Choices (primary color):  Grays, earthy browns, plums, violets, periwinkle, navy blue, or deeper brown.
  • Area:  Eyelid below the crease of the eye.

Tip: If your eyes are droopy or hooded, only apply this color from the outer edge of the lid, inward to the center of the eye, or pupil area.

Step#4 - Eyeliner

Color choices:  Steel blue, black, dark brown.

Step 5 - Eyelashes

Curl your lashes before applying black or dark brown mascara.

Beauty Tip:

If you have a problem with your mascara transferring to your skin just below the lower lashes, try dusting a little mineral powder foundation or transparent loose powder below the lashes before applying waterproof mascara. Don’t apply too much powder – a light dusting will work.
