Makeup Colors for Women with

Gray Hair and Brown Eyes
Eyes
Style: Natural
Application: Do not press hard on the delicate eye area; use light sweeping stokes instead.
Step #1 – Above the eyelashes up to the brow.
- Highlight Colors: Desert, cream, or nude.
- Covering the entire area with your highlight color will give you a base to work with, even out your skin tone, and brighten the eyes.
Step #2 Eye Crease
- Color choices: Coco, gold, or medium brown mid-tone colors.
- Using an eye crease brush, load the brush with a favorite medium-tone to light eyeshadow.
- Blot any excess powder from the brush with a tissue to soften the color before application.
- Apply color along the crease of the eyes using a back and forth motion.
- During application, gently hold the eye closed at the lash line.
- Finish with a slight upward stroke at the end; not downward. This will give lift to the eyes.
Step #3 – Eye lid below the crease
- Color Choices: Browns or light dusting of granite.
- Select a color that is two shades darker than your mid-tone color.
- With an eyeshadow brush, sweep your color across the lid of the eye; for more mature eyes, only apply color from the pupil to the end of the lashes.
- Don’t cover the highlighted area of the inner part of the eyelid (closest to the nose). This highlighted area will make the eyes appear brighter.
Mascara
If you are more comfortable wearing black mascara:
- Apply only one coat to the inner lashes up to the outside area of the eye’s pupil, and then apply 3-4 coats to the remaining lashes for a beautiful doe look.
- Don’t apply mascara to the bottom lashes; it can make more mature eyes look harsh, and appear smaller.
Eyeliner
- Brown, navy blue, or none.
- For larger looking eyes, create a thin line above the upper lash line and do not line the lower lash line.
Lips
- As women age, lips naturally become thinner and paler in color. Bring color back to the lips with soft berries, apricot, peach, or coral.
- Stay away from light frosted colors, or stark reds.

Lip Liner
- The purpose of a lip liner is to define the shape of the lips, correct the shape of the lips; and keep lipstick from bleeding into any fine lines surrounding the mouth.
- When the shape of the lips has been perfected with lip liner, brush color inside the line with matching lipstick.
- Using a lipstick brush is especially helpful for this task.
- If you like to wear a variety of different colored lipsticks, but you don’t have lip liners to match them all, use the color neutral to line the lips.

Blush
When selecting blush, use your lipstick color to guide you. If your favorite lipstick color is peach, choose blush with peach undertones. Pink? Choose blush with pink undertones…refer to our Blush and Lipstick Color Chart for more color combinations.
Makeup Foundation
What feels most comfortable on your skin is what will normally work best for you. However, keep in mind the three most important factors when choosing foundation:
- Match foundation to your skin type;
- Match the color of your foundation to your skin tone;
- Avoid applying too much foundation.
