Most Important Makeup Brushes in a Starter Set

You are now ready to take the plunge and buy your first set of quality makeup brushes, but the problem is that you are confused about which makeup brushes are the most important makeup brushes for a starter set.

What makeup brushes are most important in my starter set?
A basicmakeup brush starter set should include a powder, cheek, eyeliner, eyebrow brush/comb combination, and at least three eyeshadow brushes.

About how much money should I expect to spend on a makeup brush starter set?
You can expect to spend $35 and up on a basic starter set, and then as you discover your favorite makeup brushes, slowly replace them one-by-one with even higher quality brushes.

How many eyeshadow brushes should I own?
It is my opinion that a woman can never have too many eyeshadow brushes.  Eyeshadow brushes don't have to be expensive, but you do want brushes of at least medium quality to hold the powder and not shed.

Should I purchase a real cheap pair of brushes and add on?
If you are talking about spending $10 or $15 dollars on a starter set of makeup brushes, I'd think again.  The problem with buying really cheap makeup brushes is that you'll likely find yourself picking bristles off your skin and that your makeup won't adhere well to your brush for proper application.

Does the handle make a difference on a makeup brush?
Look for a brush with a long handle, not a short handle.  A long handle allows you to see where you are applying eyeshadow, unlike a short handle where your hand may get in the way of your work. I always prefer working with long handle makeup brushes.

What brand do you use for a basic starter set?
My basic makeup brush set is by Mary Kay™ and I really have nothing but positive things to say about it.  Of course, I’ve added special brushes from other companies to my set that I just had to own … it’s a woman’s thing, I can’t help myself. I'm not endorsing Mary Kay, Inc.; this just happens to be the set I own and like.

With a nice set of makeup brushes, you will be amazed at how much easier it is to apply makeup and get the results you want. They make playing with makeup fun again.
