Makeup can be challenging for puffy or swollen eyes. Here are a few easy puffy eye makeup tips to help your eyes look less swollen or puffy instead of more ...
When eyes are swollen or puffy, try different makeup techniques than what you use when your eyes are not swollen. For example, if frosted eyeshadow is used on a puffy eye, instead of moving attention away from the eyes, frosted shadows accentuate the eyes. Heavy eyeshadow will do the same thing.
Makeup can be worn, even if your eyes are puffy, but it should be tweaked a bit.
Sheer coverage - not heavy
-
Avoid frosted and metallic eyeshadow.
-
*Use sheer eyeshadow.
-
Use natural colors that compliment the skin's tone (i.e. beige, light brown, cream).
*Sheer coverage technique: Load eyeshadow brush with color, wipe your brush with a tissue to remove most of, but not all of the color; apply eyeshadow lightly to your puffy eye.
Natural color combination for puffy eyes
Eyeliner
Instead of wearing eyeliner over the entire upper eye-lash root line when your eyes are puffy, apply eyeliner only to the outer one-fifth of the root-line; or don't wear eyeliner until the puffiness is gone. Eyeliner on puffy eyes can make them look even more distorted.
Eyelashes
Lips
Put the emphasis on the lips with bright colors, instead of the eyes. This will naturally draw attention away from your puffy eyes and more towards the mouth.
