Shaping Eyebrows One Hair at a Time

Shaped Eyebrows

Rule #1: Avoid eyebrow shaping mistakes by shaping eyebrows one hair at a time.
  1. Cleanse the eyebrow area with mild soap and water.
  2. Draw an outline of how you want your brows shaped. A white eyeliner pencil is a nice tool to use for this step.
  3. Numb the area with ice, anbesol, orajel, or any baby teething product to dull the pain.
  4. Brush the hairs on the brows straight up, and then begin shaping your eyebrows one hair at a time along the top with scissors.
  5. Tweeze between the brows above the nose, removing all hair. It's important to hold the tweezers as close to the skin as possible to reduce the pain.
  6. Tweeze the stray fine hairs directly above the eyebrows to clean up the area one hair at a time.
  7. Finish by tweezing and shaping the bottom portion of the eyebrows using your penciled area as your guide.
  8. Work slowly, and remember to step back and look after tweezing only a few hairs. Some women have had the misfortune of hairs removed never growing back.
  9. Remember that shaping eyebrows one hair at a time will give you the best results.

Eyebrow Tweezing Marking Guide

1.  Vertically, (straight up) hold a ruler or small straight object against the outside edge of the nose and up to your brow.

  • Make a mark on your right eyebrow to the left of your tool.
  • Reverse this step for the left eyebrow.

This mark indicates where the brow should begin

2. Vertically, hold your tool at the center of your pupil up to the brow.

  • Make a mark on your right eyebrow to the left of your tool.
  • Reverse this step for the left brow.
This is the area where you may want to transition into an arch. All eyes differ, as well as all eyebrows. Therefore, this is not a rule set in stone, but rather a guideline to help when shaping the brow.

3.  Place your tool from the outer edge of your nostril to the ending of your eye and up to the brow area.

  • Make a mark on your right eyebrow to the left of your tool.
  • Reverse this step for your left brow.
This mark indicates where your brow should end.
