Secrets when wearing smokey eye makeup
Smoky eyes: Elegant, powerful, and hot!  When wearing smoky eyes, it is all about the eyes.

Tone down the lipstick and blush; curl up the lashes and add a few false lashes on ends for your dramatic look!

A pulled back sleek hairstyle is fashionable with smoky eyes. As said before, the smokey eye look is all about the eyes.

Eye makeup preparation:
  • Even out the skin tone of the eyes by applying liquid makeup foundation over the eye area;
  • For longer lasting eye makeup, apply eye primer over the makeup foundation.
Eye area:  Brush deep brown eyeshadow over the eyelid; skip the crease area and apply a light dusting of brown above the crease line to keep an even skin color. (see Smoky Eye Tip #1)

Eye Crease:  Blend dark violet or plum into the crease line of the eye, lightly tailing the crease line color up to the end of the brow. Make a smooth color transition from the crease to the lid by blending the edges of plum into the brown. (See Smokey Eye Tip #2)

Brow Area: Sweep light grey above the crease line to the eyebrow.

Lash Line: Brush Kohl eyeshadow along the lower and upper lash line.

Eyeliner: Use dark brown pencil eyeliner along the upper and lower lash line. Smoky eyes are created with eyeshadow, not eyeliner, therefore, don’t make the line too thick. Soften the pencil line with a smudge brush.

Mascara: Use a maximum volume, lash lengthening black or dark brown mascara.

To add more pop to the lashes, apply a few false lashes on the top outer lashes for a beautiful doe look.

If you don't care to wear false eyelashes try using a long lash microfiber before sweeping on your mascara.

Lipstick and Blush: For the smoky eye effect, lipstick and blush must take a backstage. Use tan or neutral lipstick and a soft brown blush that gives the face a naturally healthy glow. Blush and lipstick should always compliment each other.

Sheer and Even Eyeshadow Coverage
Smoky Eye Tip #1

For sheer and even eyeshadow coverage:
  • Don’t overload the eyeshadow brush with color;
  • After the eyeshadow brush is loaded, wipe any excess off the brush with a tissue.
  • Never mix different eyeshadow colors onto one brush.
Working with an eye crease brush
Smokey Eye Tip #2

An eye crease brush is a good investment for applying color in the crease of the eyelid; it will allow you to move color inside the crease with more precision than an eyeshadow brush.

When working with an eye crease brush, move the brush in a windshield wiper motion in the crease of the eye.
