True Story
W.T. had been an alcoholic since early childhood. His parents were both deceased before he even reached puberty.  What's ironic, and why we've published his interpretation of alcoholism, is that alcoholism affects people the same today as it did some 50 years ago.  If you, or someone close to you is an alcoholic, know that dead ends, like W.T.'s  don't have to happen.  Seek help and have a bright tomorrow.

W.T., his wife, and two children paid the ultimate price of alcoholism.  He was executed at San Quentin prison for killing his young wife.  She was only in her 30's.  Their two young children were left behind to care for each other the rest of their lives.

Alcoholism Defined by an Alcoholic

Alcoholism is a blind, slow, and creeping disease; never thoroughly understood by anyone except the person involved.

Psychiatry is always ready to expose the effect and condition of the alcoholic; but they don’t seem to be able to expose the cause of the use.

The alcoholic never drinks to overcome reality; but to overcome reality’s effect.

The alcoholic drinks not only wine and rubbing alcohol, as some creature’s reflections stand out; but he also drinks beer and whiskey. The condition is not addicted to cheap drink, preferably called by the critic, a “bay rum addict” or the “wino”; but the alcoholic condition of emotional and mental instability is addicted to anything that has an alcoholic content.

The alcoholic is a highly sensitive person. When the life of these sensitive characters is disturbed, such as the close ties of his loved one’s, then reality’s effect becomes too strong and serious. The effect is a burden upon the Central Nervous System, we call the brain, and transacted to other parts of the body, and this causes the increase of emotional and mental instability, and when this occurs, the alcoholic gets extremely nervous, and in severe cases he gets violently sick at the stomach. The person gets to be a wreck physically and mentally, and this is what causes a person to reach for the next drink. Alcohol is depressing and this quiets and soothes the nerves, and when the nerves are quieted the person is more able to think with more positive thought, providing the person doesn’t drink too much, and when the nerves are quieted the stomach becomes settled and the person is able to eat once again.

The alcoholic usually has a disturbing life from childhood; he has missed the important things in life. In my case, I missed the love and affection of my father and mother, a home, education, and generally speaking, all the important things in life. I think all these sensitive characters have a sincere desire for the survival of prestige, and so on, and the struggle is finally exploded unconsciously, through the use of alcohol………

And these are the early days and symptoms of alcoholism which is increased with a blind and more severity as the years go by. Reality’s disturbing effect grows stronger due to the trouble involved through the use of alcohol, while the mental and emotional instability grows weaker and in the later stages of alcoholism the dilemma of darkness approaches, then “black outs”, and which is sometimes refered to as delirium tremans, wet brain, and sometime convulsions. At this stage the cycle is in a circle and unless the patient is locked up he may emerge with a wet brain, which is plainer by saying, "an alcoholic with a Psychosis”, which may be permanently unbalanced for the remainder of life, depending on the destruction of the Nervous System, or the function of the Nervous System which supplies reality’s life to the tiny bran cells. In my case, my nerves have healed and life’s reality has been returned to the brain cells, and this life is the reality of life. This is why I am able to think once again with a positive thought that doesn’t forget. I went into what you might call a nervous unreality after my wife and children left, and not through the use of alcohol. What reality I had left was befogged and I was unable to understand the faculties of life, and this lead to the use of alcohol as a necessity, to escape the mental an emotional instability of reality effect……
